WP 6 - Data management and visualisation tools for EB-MSP
WP6 Objectives
O6.1 – to ensure that all activities within MarinePlan have access to up-to-date, suitable and well-managed data, models, and visualization tools;
O6.2 – to ensure that MarinePlan outcomes and software tools are made publicly available in accordance with FAIR principles in support of an Open Science Strategy.

Work Package Tasks
T6.1 Establishing a data management plan (DMP)
A DMP defines how data is collected and maintained, during MarinePlan and beyond, in terms of collection, homogenization, storage, versioning, and distribution.
Lead: EII
T6.2 Executing the DMP
This task will address the adaptation and monitoring of the DMP throughout the life span of MarinePlan, to ensure that all MarinePlan activities have access to, and can deliver, well-managed data. Required data sources and data products are defined by the individual tasks and Planning Sites.

T6.3 Liaising with public data infrastructures
Under this task, the collaboration and linkages to existing data infrastructures will be coordinated. As data infrastructures, their access methods, and products are under frequent development, there are opportunities to interact with data infrastructures to help shape their products whilst furthering the aims of MarinePlan. Such interactions will ensure that MarinePlan has access to the most up-to-date data products. In turn, these interactions allow MarinePlan to disseminate project deliverables with high visibility on prominent and globally accessible data infrastructures, through open access data channels in support of Open Science, and via open protocols and with appropriate metadata in support of the FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable) data principles.

T6.4 Providing technical support of scientific software, models and visualization tools
WP5 will identify synergies and training needs with regard to software, models and visualization tools and communicate those to WP6, which will undertake the actual training. EII will update OceanViz (Steenbeek et al. 2021), an immersive and model-driven underwater visualization environment, and extend existing visualizations to communicate key outcomes of MarinePlan in support of EB-MSP. EII will also support where appropriate the execution and customization of the Marine Spatial Planning Challenge simulation platform for the southern North Sea case study in collaboration with Breda University of Applied Sciences under parallel projects (e.g., H2020 MSP MED, Ecoscope). The execution and customisation of the Ecopath with Ecosim (EwE) ecosystem modelling approach throughout MarinePlan is supported by EII and CSIC.
