Queen’s University Belfast (QUB)

Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) is a member of the Russell group – a group of 24 leading UK research intensive universities and is a top university in the UK. Situated within the School of the Natural and Built Environment, the Planning department supports an ethos of developing knowledge, skills and competences that flow directly from a professional remit that is spatial, sustainable, integrative and inclusive. Members of the Planning department engage with a range of social science perspectives to research contemporary marine issues and to inform marine governance and policy. Members are engaged in a number of national and international projects, including projects on marine spatial planning; blue growth; cultural heritage; conservation; social acceptance of marine renewable energy; and port and coastal transitions. Relevant past and ongoing projects include PERICLES, SHIP, MOSES and the recently funded EmpowerUS and PERMAGOV Horizon Europe projects.

Contribution to the project

QUB leads WP4 on Policy Advice and Stakeholder Participation. They are the task lead on T4.1 – 4.4, and co-lead T3.3 in WP3. QUB will also contribute to WP1, WP3 (T3.1, T3.2), WP5 (T5.1), WP6 and WP7.
