International Estuarine & Coastal Specialists LTD (IECS)

The staff and associates of IECS Ltd have been carrying out research, consultancy and advice since the 1970s on many aspects of the science and management of estuarine, coastal and marine areas. They are members of many regional, national and international bodies and so collectively have a reach far beyond the local area.

Although mostly based in NE England, they have worked in many estuarine and coastal areas elsewhere in the UK, in continental Europe and worldwide. IECS has carried out commissions for numerous industrial clients, non-governmental organisations, statutory bodies and government organisations as well as the European Union, and has extensive experience of collaborating on pan-European EU-funded projects.

IECS Ltd covers a wide range of expertise including: the structure and function of ecological components - from the benthos to birds and fishes; ecosystem services and societal benefits; stakeholder engagement; environmental economics; and the governance and management of sensitive or threatened areas.
