With knowledge, independent scientific research and advice, Wageningen Marine Research makes an essential contribution to a more sustainable, careful management, use and protection of natural resources in sea, coastal and freshwater areas. The most important quality of Wageningen Marine Research is its expertise in the functioning of marine ecosystems. Wageningen Marine Research is expert in the influence of users on these ecosystems and in identifying the sustainable uses of the ecosystem. Knowledge of the policies and regulations with which these economic sectors are and will be confronted is essential in this respect. Wageningen Marine Research also has thorough knowledge of the functioning of aquatic production systems.
